DECATUR, Ga. - Kerry Busby, the assistant coach for the past two seasons under former head coach Talya DiGirolamo, has been named as her successor in heading the Agnes Scott softball program. The team, coming off of a season which saw them pull off a shocking run to the NCAA tournament, returns a robust roster.
"Kerry has been instrumental in our recruiting efforts over the past two seasons," commented Agnes Scott Athletics Director Beth Vansant. "She has been tireless for our department, assisting with our camps last year and in the work she has done for the softball program."
Busby, a collegiate player at Mary Washington, helped bring in the largest recruiting class in Agnes Scott softball history last year, adding 13 new faces to the roster when the team was left with a huge void after a large graduating class in 2015. In the upcoming season, Agnes Scott will once again have a large class, as 6 new players join the Scotties as they go into the USA South Conference for the first time.
"I am very thankful and honored to be named as the head coach of the Scotties," commented Busby. "I feel like Coach DiGirolamo has been an incredible mentor to me and prepared me for this role. I look forward to continuing to build on the successes that we had together. I want to thank Beth Vansant and the rest of the Agnes Scott College community for trusting me with developing our team."
