  • Kern Named Director of Athletics

    DECATUR, Ga.—Allison Kern has been named director of athletics at Agnes Scott College, effective immediately. Kern served as the assistant athletics director for external relations and camps during the 2017-18 academic year under then-AD Beth Vansant, who left the college in May to pursue other career opportunities.
  • Carl Picked to Lead Scottie Cross Country

    DECATUR, Ga.—The Agnes Scott College Athletic Department is pleased to announce the appointment of Molly Carl as its head cross country coach effective July 1. Carl becomes the second head coach of the team since the program was reinstituted as a full NCAA Division III sport in time for the 2014 season.

Head athletic trainer Jarrod Vanatta assumed the role quietly at the start of the winter season, while Aleigh Moore took over the assistant athletic trainer position on July 1.

The event was held on April 25 in the Leticia Pate Evans Dining Hall with a dinner and awards ceremony as the highlights.
  • Vansant Steps Down from Director of Athletics Post

    DECATUR, Ga.—Agnes Scott Athletics announced the departure of Beth Vansant, who spent the last three years as the Director of Athletics. Vansant will leave Agnes Scott after 10 academic years to pursue other career opportunities.

The Scotties celebrated Senior Day in style with a 9-0 sweep of visiting Wesleyan to keep its postseason play hopes alive and well. Agnes Scott blanked its opponent for the third straight match dating back to Friday.

    BEREA, Ky.—Agnes Scott Tennis completed a clean sweep of host Berea on Friday evening at the Wilson Evans Tennis Center after a delayed start due to weather. The Scotties downed the Mountaineers 5-0 after the two sides agreed to play to decision due to travel ahead for Agnes Scott.
  • Heyser Homer Aids Scotties in Twinbill Split

    DECATUR, Ga.—For the second time in as many games a moonshot from first-year Taylor Heyser (Miami, Fla.) proved to be the difference in a win for Agnes Scott Softball as the Scotties split a doubleheader with LaGrange. Heyser hit the first pitch she saw in the fifth inning to break a 2-2 tie and send the Scotties to a 5-2 win. LaGrange rebounded for a 7-3 triumph in game two. Agnes Scott (5-21, 2-10 USA South) heads to Brevard on Friday before a trip to Maryville on Saturday for its final conference games.

The rookie catcher was able to help lead the Scotties to break a lengthy winless streak on Sunday with a standout performance.

    DECATUR, Ga.—Agnes Scott crossed home plate 11 times in the fifth inning of game two to earn a split of a wacky USA South Conference doubleheader with visiting Berea. The two teams combined for 49 runs over 13 innings with the Mountaineers winning game one 12-11 before the Scotties struck back for a 17-9 triumph.

    LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga.—A tough conference slate for Agnes Scott Softball continued as the Scotties suffered two losses at the hands of Covenant College on an unseasonably cold Saturday afternoon. The Scots jumped on the Scotties early in game one with eight runs in the first two innings and never looked back on their way to a sweep.

    DECATUR, Ga.—Visiting Covenant was able to spin a handful of 50-50 matches in its favor to take a 6-3 win over Agnes Scott College on Thursday evening at the Byers Tennis Courts. The Scots edged the Scotties 2-1 in doubles and did enough in singles’ action to claim the win.

    DECATUR, Ga.—The Piedmont Lions were a hard team to slow down on Wednesday as they took a USA South doubleheader with Agnes Scott College at Oakhurst Park. Piedmont racked up 26 runs on 32 hits to beat the Scotties 13-1 and 13-4 to sweep the season series.

    CLEVELAND, Tenn.—Agnes Scott Softball dropped a pair of games to NAIA opponent Truett-McConnell on the Lady Bears’ Senior Day on Saturday. The Scotties fell on the wrong end of a close 2-0 game in the opener before the long ball carried the Lady Bears to a 9-0 victory in game two.

    DECATUR, Ga.—Agnes Scott Women’s Tennis claimed victory for the first time in 2018 with a dominant 9-0 effort over visiting Brevard. The Scotties started slow in both singles and doubles but found their footing to register a win without dropping a set.

    DECATUR, Ga.—Agnes Scott fell twice in USA South action to Huntingdon on Friday evening at Oakhurst Park. The Hawks’ top of the lineup was tough out all night long as Huntingdon took down the home team 11-2 in five innings before a 12-0 win in game two. The Scotties (3-13, 0-4 USA South) will look to rebound tomorrow against at Truett-McConnell beginning at 2 p.m. The Hawks moved closer to .500 at 9-11 and 2-4 respectively.

    DECATUR, Ga.—Oglethorpe spoiled the home 2018 home opener for Agnes Scott Women’s Tennis on Friday afternoon at the Byers Tennis Courts. The Stormy Petrels swept the lineup 9-0 becoming only the second team to do that to the Scotties this spring.

    MACON, Ga.—Agnes Scott Softball ran into its stiffest test to date in a pair of losses following a two-week break. The Belhaven Blazers came into the day having won 12 straight games and the Scotties were unable to slow them down in two defeats, 9-1 in game one and 5-4 in the series finale.
