DECATUR, Ga. - The Agnes Scott College softball team registered their first doubleheader sweep of the season on Sunday afternoon under perfect skies, downing the visiting Rust College Bearcats, by scores of 10-2 and 9-3. The Scotties (4-10) used consistent hitting throughout the lineup to down the Bearcats, who are affiliated members of the Great South Athletic Conference in the sport of softball.
In Game 1, Casey Arnold and Holly Jones combined for a 3-hitter, with each pitcher registering 2 strikeouts as well. At the plate, Molly Baker, Aimiee Jennings, Alyssa Millikin and Kat Riale each registered multiple hits, with Jennings leading the way with 3 RBIs.
In Game 2, Baker and Jones took to the mound for the Scotties, registering 6 strikeouts apiece, while allowing only one earned run. Baker and Riale both had perfect games behind the plate, with each going 3-for-3. The Scotties registered 14 hits, and benefited from 8 errors on the Bearcats.
The Scotties will return to the field this afternoon for a doubleheader with Brenau University. The games will take place at 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. The two teams opened the season on Brenau's campus, with the Scotties falling in both games.
