BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Agnes Scott College softball team suffered a doubleheader defeat at the hands of Southern Athletic Association frontrunner, Birmingham Southern, dropping their two games by scores of 7-1 and 8-0. The Scotties (6-18) were unable to string their hits together, as they gathered 11 hits over the two games, but only reached home once.
In both games, the story was the defense and pitching of Birmingham Southern (19-5-1), as their pitchers combined to throw 11 strikeouts, while walking only one Scottie batter. Offensively, BSC was led by Bethany Fronk, who hit for 4 RBIs while batting 3-for-5 for the evening.
The Scotties will return to the field on April 9, when they face off with nationally-ranked Emory University on the road. The Eagles, who are currently the No. 9 team in the nation in NCAA Division III, host the doubleheader with the Scotties at 3:00 p.m. on their campus.
