MACON, Ga. - The Agnes Scott College softball team saw their season come to an end today at the hands of a red-hot Salem College, who took down the Scotties, 3-0, to claim the Great South Athletic Conference championship and earn a bid to the NCAA Division III Softball Championships.
In the morning game, the Scotties were able to take out Wesleyan College, winning 5-1 to reach the championship game with the Spirits (20-14-2, 6-4 GSAC). In a defensive duel, the Spirits were able to scatter three runs, while the Scotties were unable to reach home, scattering five hits against a Salem team which did not allow a run in the tournament. On Friday, they claimed a 9-0 win over the Scotties, just hours after taking down Wesleyan, 10-0.
The Scotties (12-26, 7-5 GSAC), who claimed the regular season championship for the conference, graduate several key players from the 2014 GSAC Tournament Championship squad. Tiffany Cain, Yaritza Encarnacion, Aimee Jennings, Alyssa Millikin, Kat Riale, and Megan Snipes all played in their final game as Scotties.
