Scotties Taken Down by Piedmont in Doubleheader

DEMOREST, Ga. - The Agnes Scott College softball team faced an offensive onslaught this afternoon, as Piedmont rolled to victory in a doubleheader held at their campus, winning Game 1 by a score of 11-2 in five innings, before exploding for 18 runs in the first inning of Game 2, and coasting to an 18-1 win in five innings.

For the Scotties (4-16), Jordan Josey had a 2 RBI double in the third inning to bring the game level at 2-2, before the Lions (24-9), who lead the USA South Conference standings, picked up 7 runs in the 4th inning and tacked on 2 more in the fifth.

In Game 2, Piedmont had an offensive explosion while the Agnes Scott pitchers struggled with their control, as the Lions gathered 10 hits while getting walked 8 times before the Scotties managed to get an out.  Four different pitchers would take a turn on the mound for the Scotties, with Molly Baker finally coming in to cool off the Lions, going 4 innings with 1 hit, 2 walks and 5 strikeouts, and surrendering no runs.

The Scotties will look to rebound on Tuesday, April 5, as they travel to Maryville College to face off with another USA South opponent.  The doubleheader is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
