WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Salem College celebrated Senior Day at home with two wins over Agnes Scott College, taking out the visiting Scotties (5-23, 1-5 Great South Athletic Conference) in Game 1, 13-3, and in Game 2, 8-0. Both games were decided in by run rule, as the Spirits (21-13, 5-1 GSAC) exploded for 25 hits over the two contests.
In Game 1, the Scotties drew first blood, as they plated 3 runs in the top of the first inning, as Casey Arnold drove a 3-run home run over the fence with two outs, bringing home DeAnna Fulton and Kelsea Hunter. However, that would be the end of the scoring on the day for the Scotties, as the Spirit pitching staff held them without a run for the rest of the afternoon.
Arnold would go 2-for-3 in Game 1, and Fulton and Alex Garcia both had two hits in the second game. Molly Baker suffered the loss in Game 1 on the mound, while Nicole Gilkeson went 3.1 innings in Game 2, surrendering 8 earned runs for the loss.
The Scotties will look to get back on track as they travel to Covenant College on Wednesday, April 20, for a double header. First pitch in Lookout Mountain is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
