DECATUR, Ga. - First-year student Kisha Simpson came up huge with 24 points and 18 rebounds, leading the Agnes Scott College basketball team to a season-opening victory over Judson College, 58-50.
The Scotties led from wire to wire against the Eagles (1-3), who could not keep up with the pace of the young Scotties (1-0). Fellow first-year player Jalexis Teemer pitched in with 17 points of her own, 4 steals and 5 rebounds. Additionally for the Scotties, sophomore forward Miranda Arnold came off the bench to contribute 9 points, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks and a steal.
The Scotties started four first years and a sophomore, compared to three seniors and two juniors for their opponents. The lack of experience didn't seem to faze the home team, as they roared out to a 17 point halftime lead. The Eagles would rally late behind some three point shooting, but it would not be enough.
The Scotties will return to the court on Tuesday, November 18 as they travel to LaGrange College in a 6:00 p.m. tipoff. Live stats will be available on the LaGrange College website, or by clicking HERE.
