DECATUR, Ga. - The Agnes Scott College women's basketball team snapped a 4-game skid with a convincing win over Covenant College (0-6), using a balanced scoring attack to down the Fighting Scots, 72-58.
Hot shooting helped the Scotties (2-4), who shot a season-high 51.9% from the field, while holding the visitors to 31.7%. Senior Shavonne Orr led all scorers with 23 points, including draining 4 three-pointers, a season high for the Scotties. Kisha Simpson continued her stellar freshman campaign, recording a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds, to go along with 5 steals. Also scoring in double digits for the Scotties were Care Bacon with 12, and Jalexis Teemer with 10.
"The team really stepped up today and got the job done," commented head coach Trish Roberts. "We're doing a better job of creating opportunities, and finishing them."
The Scotties will have one day off before heading across town to face off with Emory University on Monday.
