DECATUR, Ga. - Shavonne Orr nailed five three-pointers and the Agnes Scott College basketball team held off a spirited challenge from Wesleyan College in the Great South Athletic Conference Quarterfinals, advancing with a 62-60 win. The Wolves (1-19, 0-5 GSAC) fought back from a 4-point halftime deficit before two free throws from Care Bacon put the game out of reach with 6 seconds remaining, and the Scotties leading, 62-58.
Orr would finish with 21 points, and Bacon would chip in 13 points of her own. Brittaney Howard would also score in double figures for the Scotties (7-13, 3-2 GSAC), bucketing 12 points to go along with 4 steals apiece for all three of those players. Bacon, Orr and Miranda Arnold would lead the way on the boards, each contributing 7 rebounds.
For the Wolves, Courtne Washington would finish with a game-high of 30 points, while Kyla Williamson would add 17 in the losing effort.
Agnes Scott will advance to a semifinal showdown with #1 seed Finlandia University at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28. The winner of that game will face off on Sunday with the winner of the #2/#3 matchup between Salem College and Pine Manor College, which will take place on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
