DECATUR, Ga. - The Agnes Scott College basketball team snapped an 11-game losing streak this afternoon, as they fought back from a double-digit deficit to defeat Rust College, 56-50. Laniqua Collins led the Scotties with an incredible 23 point, 17 rebound effort, leading all players in both categories.
After the first quarter, it looked like Rust (1-18) would run away with the contest, as they raced to a 21-9 lead. The Scotties would respond, however, narrowing the deficit to a single point at halftime, 25-24. In the second half, the contest would go back and forth before the Scotties finally started to pull away, extending their lead to as many as six points with 3:34 to play in the game.
Also assisting in the effort for the Scotties were sophomores Jalexis Teemer and Grace Keheley, as Teemer led the Scotties with 9 assists, as well as contributing 11 points. Keheley pitched in with 10 rebounds, as the Scotties outrebounded their opponents, 48-47.
