DECATUR, Ga. - Three Scotties scored in double figures, led by a strong performance from sophomore forward Laniqua Collins, who bucketed 19 points and pulled down 19 rebounds to lead the Agnes Scott basketball team to a 58-39 win over Wesleyan College (2-14, 0-2 Great South Athletic Conference). The Scotties (4-15, 2-1 GSAC) have now won three of their last five contests.
The first half was a close affair, as the Wolves used three point shooting to stay in the contest, going 3-for-8 from long distance. At the half, the Scotties led by 5, 31-26, behind 9 from Collins and 8 from sophomore forward Grace Keheley, who would finish the contest with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocked shots.
In the second half, the Scotties would extend their lead slowly in the third quarter, before running away in the fourth, outscoring the Wolves, 13-2. Jalexis Teemer finished the game with 12 points, 8 assists, and 7 rebounds. Also of note was the performance of first-year Zoey Perchaluk, who hounded the Wolves on defense in the fourth quarter, and also hauled in 5 rebounds in only 9 minutes of play.
The Scotties return to the floor on Saturday, February 13, as they face off with Pensacola Christian in the team's "pink out" contest. Fans are asked to wear pink to the game, which tips off at 2:00 p.m.
Laniqua Collins scored 19 points and had 19 rebounds for the Scotties.
