Scotties Season Ends, 67-53, in GSAC Quarterfinal

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Agnes Scott College basketball team saw their season come to an end today in the first round of the Great South Athletic Conference tournament, falling to #5 seed Finlandia University (3-23), by a score of 67-53.  The Scotties kept the game close through three quarters, but in the end, foul trouble once again plagued the team as they outfouled their opponents, 26-15.

Laniqua Collins finishes a stellar sophomore season, leading all players with 21 points and 15 rebounds.  It is the 8th double-double of the season for her, with 7 of those coming in the last 8 games.  Brittaney Howard also contributed 10 points for the Scotties (4-18), who played with only 7 players.

The Scotties graduate no one from this year's roster, so the future looks bright for the team, as Collins will return, as well as Kisha Simpson, who sat out the second half of the season with an injury. Before becoming injured, Simpson had been leading the Scotties with 11.6 points and 11.0 rebounds per game.  Collins finishes the season averaging 14.3 points and 10.1 rebounds per contest.
