    DECATUR, Ga.—A strong fourth quarter effort was not enough to bring Agnes Scott back from a double-digit deficit in a 52-45 loss to visiting LaGrange. The Scotties had to battle foul trouble for much of the game and LaGrange’s ability to knock down shots at the free throw line ultimately made the difference in the game.

The Scotties received big efforts from Garis Grant (Charleston, S.C.) and Jane Lado (Louisville, Ky.), but could not ultimately overcome the Mountaineers’ three-quarter court press.

    MACON, Ga.—Annie Weimerskirch’s (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) scored five of her team-high 18 points in the second overtime of a thrilling 78-77 victory over host Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon. The Scotties came all the way back from a tough first quarter in which they trailed by 10 points to sweep the season series with the Wolves.

    DECATUR, Ga.—The Agnes Scott basketball program was picked by the USA South Conference to take over the conference Instagram feed for the weekend as the Scotties head to Covenant and Wesleyan on back to back days. The Scotties are the fifth winter team in the conference to get possession of the account for a weekend.

Smith totaled 30 points in an outstanding matchup between her and Agnes’ Garis Grant (Charleston, S.C.), who scored 23 in her own right.

    DECATUR, Ga.—Agnes Scott dropped the second of a weekend doubleheader to Huntingdon, 58-45, on Sunday afternoon at the Woodruff Gymnasium. The Scotties cut a double-digit halftime deficit to two possessions at the start of the second half, but could not overcome the consistent inside-outside offense for the Hawks in the USA South loss.

    DECATUR, Ga.—A 20-6 run to end the game spurred visiting Brevard to a 59-46 win over Agnes Scott in women’s basketball action on Saturday afternoon at the Woodruff Gym. The Scotties overcame a double-digit deficit in the first half to take a lead in the fourth quarter but went cold from the floor down the stretch to put Brevard back in control of the contest.

    DECATUR, Ga.—Piedmont’s dominant second quarter spurred them on to a 62-28 USA South Women’s Basketball victory over host Agnes Scott on Tuesday afternoon at the Woodruff Athletic Center. A close first quarter broke into a large advantage for the visitors as they outscored the Scotties 25-2 with Agnes’ only two points coming at the free throw line.

    LAGRANGE, Ga.—A mid-game run pushed the LaGrange Panthers to close 54-47 victory over Agnes Scott in USA South women’s basketball action on Tuesday evening. The Panthers turned a close affair into a double-digit lead by halftime and fought off a pesky Scottie squad in the second half to move to 6-5 on the season and 1-2 in the conference. Agnes Scott drops to 1-11 and 0-4 respectively.

    MARYVILLE, Tenn.—Garis Grant (Charleston, S.C.) didn’t slow down despite a two-week layoff, but her 20 points was not enough to overcome a halftime deficit at Maryville on Saturday evening. The Scotties hung tough in the first half, but the home team pulled away with a big third quarter before holding on to beat the Scotties 67-41 in the final game of 2017 for both sides.
  • Mountaineers Stave Off Scotties, 96-47

    BEREA, Ky.—The Berea Mountaineers held serve on their home court in the final conference game of the fall semester for both sides, besting Agnes Scott 96-47. Berea’s offense was on point in the early going as the Mountaineers scored the first 19 points of regulation on their way to a hefty lead after the first quarter. The Scotties got more disciplined as the game went along, but Berea’s sharpshooting was too much in the end.

    MEMPHIS, Tenn.—Agnes Scott Women’s Basketball outscored Hendrix 27-20 in the second half, but it was not enough to complete a full comeback in a 57-43 loss to the Warriors at the Rhodes Invitational. The Scotties will head back to Decatur with a 1-6 record overall, while Hendrix improves to 6-1.

    DECATUR, Ga.—Oglethorpe showed why they were a preseason favorite in the SAA on Tuesday night, handing Agnes Scott a 70-28 defeat to spoil the home opener for the Scotties. Agnes Scott drops its third consecutive game after a win in its season opener, while Oglethorpe handled its second USA South team to start the season at 2-0.

    MONTGOMERY, Ala.—Pensacola Christian exploded for a big fourth quarter to down Agnes Scott College in the finale of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic on Saturday, 63-50. The Scotties had to battle from a large deficit for the second night in a row and nearly completed a comeback before the Eagles pulled away late in the game.

    MONTGOMERY, Ala.—A fast start for the Bruins of Bob Jones University vaulted them to a 65-60 win over Agnes Scott Women’s Basketball on Friday afternoon on day two of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at Huntingdon College. The Bruins took a double-digit lead early in the first quarter and held off a fourth-quarter charge by the Scotties to even their record at 3-3. The Scotties fall for the first time in 2017 after an exciting win over Rust on Thursday.

    MONTGOMERY, Ala.—Sophomore Garis Grant (Charleston, S.C.) banked home a shot as time expired to clinch an exhilarating victory for Agnes Scott in the season opener versus Rust. Grant finished with a game-high 19 points, including the most important bucket of the game in the waning moments to help the Scotties beat Rust College 57-56 in the first game of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at Huntingdon.

    FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.—Agnes Scott Women’s Basketball was predicted to finish the 2017-18 season the same way they finished the 2016-17 season at seventh in the USA South West. The league’s coaches voted in the preseason poll this week and do not vote for their own team.
