Comeback Falls Short in Memphis Finale

MEMPHIS, Tenn.—Agnes Scott Women's Basketball outscored Hendrix 27-20 in the second half, but it was not enough to complete a full comeback in a 57-43 loss to the Warriors at the Rhodes Invitational. The Scotties will head back to Decatur with a 1-6 record overall, while Hendrix improves to 6-1.

Hendrix started off the game scoring hot from the floor and never trailed in the contest. The Warriors scored the first 12 points of the game and turned the Scotties over 20 times in the first half on their way to a 21-point advantage at halftime.

As they have for much of the season, Agnes Scott played much better in the second half after a slow start. The Scotties outscored their opponent in both the third and fourth quarters, but it wasn't enough to dig themselves out of the early hole.

Ashley Park (Santa Clara, Calif.) and Jahmeelah Nash-Fuller (New York, N.Y.) led the Scotties in scoring with nine points each. Garis Grant (Charleston, S.C.) pulled down 13 boards, but finished a basket short of another double-double performance.

The Scotties continue to pile up blocks and rebounds, winning the battle in both stat categories.

Agnes' last four opponents have a combined three losses in 2017.

Agnes Scott will play area opponent Emory on Tuesday at the Woodruff Gym for a 6 p.m. start.
