MACON, Ga. - The Agnes Scott College soccer team continued their recent dominance over Wesleyan College, scoring a 2-1 victory over the Wolves for their 25th consecutive win over the Wolves, dating back to 2000. With the win, the Scotties (6-9, 2-2 Great South Athletic Conference) clinched the #2 seed in the upcoming GSAC Conference Tournament.
The teams were deadlocked at halftime, with the Scotties registering two shots on goal, both of which were stopped by the Wesleyan keeper. In the second half, Scottie First Year student Sarah Fisher broke the scoreless affair with a free kick goal in the 65th minute. Fifteen minutes later, teammate Maddie Shaul would put an insurance goal into the net for the Scotties, firing from the left center of the field for a 2-0 Scottie lead. Wesleyan would tack on a goal with 30 seconds to play, spoiling the shutout.
The Scotties will return to the field on Friday as they open the GSAC Conference Tournament against an opponent to be determined. The tournament will take place on the campus of Salem College in Winston-Salem, N.C.
