WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Agnes Scott College soccer team suffered their first USA South Conference loss on Saturday afternoon, facing familiar foe, Salem College, in their first meeting since both schools left the Great South Athletic Conference for their new home in the USA South. After a close first half of play, the Spirits (6-1-1, 2-1-1 USA South) pulled away in the second half for a 4-1 win over the Scotties (4-2-1, 2-1-1 USA South).
After a first half that saw the Scotties hold the Spirits to only one goal, the home team exploded for three more goals in the second half to take an insurmountable 4-0 lead. The Scotties would spoil the shutout late in the game, as Caitlynn Croft would pick up her third goal of the season in the 88th minute.
The Scotties continue their weekend on the road this afternoon, as they take on Piedmont College (3-3-1, 2-1-1 USA South) at 1:00 p.m.
