DECATUR, Ga. - Maryville College downed the Agnes Scott College soccer team by a score of 4-0 on Friday at Gellerstedt Field. The Scots (3-5-1, 3-2-1 USA South) scored early and often as the Scotties (4-4-1, 2-3-1 USA South) were unable to rebound from a slow start that saw the Scots score with less than 30 seconds elapsed on the clock, as they built a 4-0 lead before halftime.
In the first half, the Scotties were outshot by Maryville, 14-1, before coming back in the second half with a much more balanced performance. The Scotties, in fact, had more opportunities to score in the second half than the Scots, outshooting them, 6-4. Senior Catherine Pratt was the Scottie who came closest to ruining the shutout, as she came off the bench to fire a shot from the right side that hit off the crossbar.
The Scotties will try to regroup as they face off with Covenant College today on the campus of Agnes Scott. Game time is 2:00 p.m.
