Fisher Leads Scotties to 3-0 Win Over Wesleyan

MACON, Ga. - In a critical match for their playoff hopes, Agnes Scott soccer came through with an important win today on the road, taking out Wesleyan (Ga.) by a score of 3-0. Sarah Fisher was the star of the contest, scoring the first two goals for the Scotties (5-9-1, 3-8-1 USA South), and assisting on the third, clinching a playoff spot in their first season as a member of the USA South Conference.

In the first half, Fisher weaved through the Wesleyan defense to score the game-winner in the 20th minute of play. She would tack on her second goal in the 77th minute, then help set up Caitlynn Croft for the final score five minutes later. The Wolves (3-11, 1-11 USA South) were dealt a blow in their efforts to make the USA South playoffs, as they will now need to win their final two contests against Huntingdon and LaGrange in order to secure a spot, and would also need Agnes Scott to knock off Huntingdon on Saturday.

With the win, the Scotties now have 10 points in conference play, and sit in fifth place. With the top six teams in the division advancing, they sit 2 points ahead of sixth-place Huntingdon, who tied eighth-place LaGrange, 0-0, this evening. The Scotties now look to lock down the #5 seed, as they sit 2 points ahead of Huntingdon.

The Scotties will host Huntingdon on Saturday, October 22 at 2 p.m. before concluding the regular season with a 2:00 p.m. match on Sunday against LaGrange.
