ATLANTA, Ga.—The 22nd-ranked Emory women's soccer program showed why they are a national contender with a 7-0 win over Agnes Scott on Saturday night.
The Scotties knew it would be a stiff test before the opening whistle as Emory had handed two formidable opponents big losses within the last week. Agnes Scott's defense held steady at the start, forcing Emory into shots deep enough to allow first-year keeper Abby Ackerson (Hoover, Ala.) to make comfortable saves.
Ackerson made 16 in the game.
However, Emory scored their first of the game in the 22nd minute when Abby McCarter was able to beat Ackerson at the near post and the Eagles clicked on offense from there. Six Eagles tallied a goal on the evening.
Agnes Scott (0-7-1) heads to Lookout Mountain to take on Covenant on Wednesday at 4 p.m—the conference opener for the Scotties this fall.
