Scotties Crush Wesleyan, Advance to GSAC Final, 5-0

MACON, Ga. - Agnes Scott College cruised past Wesleyan College (2-8, 0-5 GSAC) in the semifinals of the Great South Athletic Conference tournament to land themselves a place in the final, where they will await the winner of Salem College and Mills College.  The Scotties (9-4, 5-0 GSAC) led from start to finish on all courts, leading in all of the singles matches by shutout margins when the match was called at 5-0 in favor of the Scotties.

GSAC Player of the Year Claire Rinaldo and GSAC Freshman of the Year Maddie Hoffman, Agnes Scott's top two players this season, once again raced to wins, raising their respective records to 10-3 and 11-2, respectively, at the top two singles spots. In the postseason, all matches are pulled once a team reaches the necessary 5 points for the win. The other four singles players on court when the Scotties acquired the 5th point, were leading in shutout fashion.

The GSAC Championship is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, at 9:00 a.m. on the campus of Wesleyan College.  Salem College (8-7, 3-2 GSAC) will be the Scotties' opponents, after a 5-0 win over Mills College in the other semifinal.  The winner of that contest advances to the NCAA Division III Championships.
