INDIANAPOLIS - The NCAA Division III Tennis Committee has announced the 49 teams who will compete in the NCAA Tennis Championships, and Agnes Scott College (10-4), the Great South Athletic Conference tournament and regular season champions, have been drawn to face off with regional host, #12 Sewanee (17-5), who clinched their bid by winning their third straight Southern Athletic Association title.
"We are excited about the opportunity to go to Sewanee this week," commented head coach T.J. Greggs. "We are familiar with their team, having played them earlier this season. We have a good idea of what to expect, and plan on going out there ready to compete."
Earlier in the season, Sewanee downed the Scotties, 9-0, at their campus. Since that match, the Scotties have gone on a 9-0 run to finish the season.
"We've played some great tennis down the stretch," continued Greggs. "We know we have quite a task before us, as Sewanee is very talented and deep. We will control the things we can control and give 100% this week."
The opening round match will take place on Thursday, May 7, at 10:00 a.m. CST. The winner advances to face #11 Washington University (St. Louis). The second round will take place on Friday at Sewanee.
