DECATUR, Ga. - Agnes Scott College dropped their first match of the young season, falling to USA South Athletic Conference foe, Huntingdon College (3-2, 2-0 USA South) by a score of 8-1. Lizzy Engsberg was the lone winner for the Scotties, as she took out Mariah Bastos at the #3 singles spot, 6-3, 6-1.
The Scotties (2-1, 0-1 USA South) fell behind early in all three doubles matches, and the Hawks were able to close out the closest of the three matches, at #1 doubles, by a score of 8-6, as Maddie Hoffman and Taylor Lee fell to Zoya Robinson and Josie Waddell.
In singles, Engsberg dominated from start to finish against Bastos, gaining revenge after Bastos and her partner, Dusty Catala, the #1 singles player on the team, paired up at the #3 spot in doubles for an 8-2 win over Engsberg and Camille Wilson.
The Scotties match on Monday against Oglethorpe has been postponed until March 23 due to weather, so the next match on the Scotties' schedule is a Thursday, March 2, match against Berry College at home.
