Godfrey Picked as Head Coach for Scottie Tennis

DECATUR, Ga.--Keva Godfrey has been selected to usher in a new era for the women's tennis program at Agnes Scott College as announced by the department and Athletic Director Beth Vansant on Thursday. Godfrey comes to Agnes Scott after serving as the head coach for the women's tennis program at Clark Atlanta University for the last three years. She began her duties in mid-October.

"I am very happy to be a part of the program at Agnes Scott College," said Godfrey. "There are so many positives when it comes to being a part of such a great college. I am eager and excited to get to work and help the women of the team reach their goals on and off the court."

Godfrey boasted a 36-34 overall record at the helm of the CAU tennis program, and in 2016 was named Coach of the Year by her peers in the SIAC conference. As a student, Godfrey guided the team to a conference championship (2011) and one national tournament appearances (2011).  She was named Most Valuable Player in in the conference in 2009.

As a player, she completed her college career with a 34-10 overall record.  In 2017, her team finished second in the conference tournament and in 2016, they placed third in the conference tournament. She is a certified teaching pro through the United States Professional Tennis Association.
 
Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Student-Athlete Success, Rosie Davis, led the nationwide search for the position.
 
"We're excited to bring a coach of Coach Godfrey's experience and caliber to our staff, and we're looking forward to a great first year of both competition and recruiting," added Davis. 
 
Godfrey spends her time volunteering with Sporty Girls, Inc. and the Atlanta Youth Tennis and Education Foundation.  The Bahamas native earned her B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Biology from Clark Atlanta University in 2012. She also has an M.A. in Criminal Justice from Clark Atlanta University.

Godfrey currently lives in Newnan, Ga. with her husband Rick and children Connor and Zaria.

Agnes Scott kicks off its spring season on February 22 at Point University.
