PANAMA CITY, Fla. - The Agnes Scott College volleyball team finished off their Fall Break with a 3-0 loss to Gulf Coast State College. The Commodores (23-8) won their 10th straight match, while the Scotties (6-13) did their best to rally in the third set, but eventually fell (25-12, 25-15, 25-22).
The match was marked by consistency from both sides of the net, as the Scotties committed only 10 hitting errors on the day, while registering 17 kills. The Commodores rarely missed an opportunity to put the ball down, using their high powered offense to take the win.
The Scotties were led by Bonnie Derks, who had 6 kills on 14 attacks. Shakirah Dodson registered 10 assists, including 7 in the final set, and Chari Mayes and Miranda Arnold came off the bench in the third set to provide a spark to the Scotties, with both registering a kill, as well as contributing 6 digs between them to aid in the effort. Celeste Crowley led the Scotties defensively with 9 total digs.
The Scotties will return to the road on Tuesday, October 21 when they travel to LaGrange College for a 6:30 p.m. match.
