DECATUR, Ga. - The Agnes Scott College volleyball team opened their Great South Athletic Conference schedule with a bang today at home, dispatching defending champion, Salem College in straight sets (25-18, 25-11, 25-16). With the win, the Scotties (4-4, 1-0 GSAC) take the early advantage toward a regular season title in the conference. The Spirits (2-6, 1-1 GSAC) defeated Wesleyan College on Friday evening, but were unable to match up with the Scotties.
Bonnie Derks led the way on the stat sheet for the Agnes Scott offence, registering 10 kills, while Anna Tomkins had a double double, dishing out 20 assists while also recording 12 digs on defense. First-Year libero Joanna Ferreira also had 10 digs to aid in the defensive effort.
The Scotties will travel to Toccoa Falls College on Wednesday, September 23, before traveling to Wesleyan College next Friday in GSAC action.
