TOCCOA FALLS, Ga. - Balance was the name of the game on Wednesday night, as 3 Scotties had 7 kills apiece, and 3 had 9 digs apiece to lead the Agnes Scott College volleyball team (5-4) to a straight set win over Toccoa Falls College by scores of 25-20, 25-19 and 25-14. Sophomore setter and reigning Great South Athletic Conference Player of the Week, Anna Tomkins, had 23 assists, 8 digs and 6 kills to aid in the victory.
"We did a good job this evening of spreading out our attack," commented head coach Catherine Geerlings, "and we kept the defense guessing for the entire evening."
Leading the attack for the Scotties were the trio of Kayleigh McCrary, Bonnie Derks, and Paige Heck, who all finished with 7 kills on the evening. On defense, Derks, Joanna Ferreira and Morgan Pearson each recorded 9 digs, and senior middle blocker Shakirah Dodson was efficient in lodging 5 kills on only 9 attempts, while contributing 3 solo blocks and 2 block assists.
The Scotties will return to the court on Friday when they look to remain in first place in the GSAC as they take on Wesleyan College on the road at 7:00 p.m.
