DECATUR, Ga. - With Agnes Scott College President Elizabeth Kiss serving as the guest coach, the Agnes Scott College volleyball team put together a solid performance, but eventually fell to LaGrange College, 3-1 (25-19, 22-25, 25-17, 25-22). The Panthers (10-16) used a balance attack to keep the Scotties guessing on defense, with four different players finished the match in double digits for kills.
For the Scotties, First-Year Paige Heck had an outstanding contest offensively, leading all players with 15 kills. Sophomore outside hitter Bonnie Derks was also effective, lodging 12 kills on the evening, to go along with 19 digs on defense. Bella Kammerer, who recently made the transition to libero for the Scotties, finished the contest with 20 digs. The Scotties (7-12) had four players finish with more than 10 digs, with Anna Tomkins adding 16 to go along with 32 assists on the night, and Joanna Ferreira, who finished with 13 digs.
The match showed marked improvement over the team's earlier contest against the Panthers, as the previous contest was a straight-set romp by the Panthers (25-6, 25-14, 25-15).
The Scotties will have a chance to wrap up the regular season title for the Great South Athletic Conference this weekend, as they head to second-place Salem College on Saturday, October 24, for a noon matchup.
