MACON, Ga. - Agnes Scott volleyball snapped a 6-match USA South Conference losing streak to strengthen their chances at a postseason berth, knocking off Wesleyan College (Ga.), 3-0, on the road. The Scotties (10-13, 4-9 USA South) now sit a game ahead of Salem College for the 6th and final playoff spot for the West Division.
Against the Wolves (0-20, 0-13 USA South), the Scotties were dominant throughout, outhitting the Wolves .487 to (-.113). Paige Heck led the Scotties with 12 kills, and Morgan Pearson and Bonnie Derks each chipped in with 9. Several Scotties were able to gain valuable experience, as Savannah Laney contributed 15 assists and 8 digs, which were both season-highs for the first-year student. Anna Tomkins led all players with 22 assists, and Adriana Figueroa came off the bench to register 7 digs and 3 service aces.
The Scotties will host a triple header tomorrow evening, as they face off in a non-conference contest against LaGrange at 4:00 pm, followed by the Panthers taking on Rust College, and finally, the Scotties will return to the court to take on Rust at 8:00 p.m. LaGrange is a member of the USA South, but the match between the Scotties and Panthers will not count toward USA South standings.
