TOCCOA FALLS, Ga.—A well-synced offense paced host Toccoa Falls to a season sweep of Agnes Scott Volleyball on Tuesday evening. The Screaming Eagles broke open a close match with dominant performances in the third and fourth sets to take the match outright, 3-1.
Toccoa Falls improves to 9-3 on the season, while Agnes Scott sees its record dip to 3-7. The Scotties have dropped three straight after back-to-back wins over Brewton-Parker a week ago.
The open two sets looked just as they had two weeks ago when the programs met in Decatur. Toccoa was ultimately able to turn the tables in the end on the Scotties despite several standout individual performances by the home team.
The Screaming Eagles took the first set 25-19 before dropping a 25-22 second. However, Toccoa took firm control of the match when they cruised to a 25-11 third set and held off a Scottie rally in the fourth to the four-set victory.
Resa Knott (Atlanta, Ga.) had a great night with 11 kills, while Paige Heck (Indianapolis, Ind.) finished with nine and Bonnie Derks (Sylva, N.C.) had eight. Anna Tomkins (Chapel Hill, N.C.) finished with 33 assists.
The Scotties will look to get back on track this weekend with a tri-match at Wesleyan with Maryville on Saturday beginning at 2 p.m. It is the conference openers for the USA South.
