Tornados Whirl Past Scotties in Three

BREVARD, N.C.—Agnes Scott hung tough all night, but new USA South member Brevard had enough answers to beat the Scotties 3-0 on Wednesday evening at Boshamer Gym. The Scotties fell to the Tornados 25-19, 25-23, 25-19.

Agnes Scott held a lead at the midway point of the first set, but Brevard countered with a couple of runs to take control down the stretch. The second set followed a similar script, but Agnes was able to hold onto its lead longer into the game. The Scotties held a solid 21-17 advantage with an impressive five-point run, but Brevard started a 5-0 run of its own and won eight of the final 10 points in the game to put the Scotties down by two games.

The Scotties continued to give the Tornados problems in the third, but again long stretches of rallies without any Agnes Scott points ultimately did them in. With the game tied at 16, Brevard went on an 8-0 to push the Scotties to the brink.

Morgan Pearson (Pensacola, Fla.) continued her stellar play with 10 kills, while Alexis Smith (Memphis, Tenn.) chipped in eight more. Anna Tomkins (Chapel Hill, N.C.) had 24 assists.

Agnes Scott will host both Oglethorpe and nationally-ranked Emory tomorrow at Woodruff Gymnasium beginning at 4 p.m.
