The Agnes Scott cross country team continued their path of improvement this weekend in their third meet of the season at the University of North Georgia Invitational.
"Everyone improved this weekend and that's what I'm looking for right now" stated head coach Mary Chind. "Being a new team is challenging because most of our runners haven't competed for two or three years and some of them have never run cross country, but everyone has improved steadily and I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season" continued Chind.
Leading the way for the third meet in a row was junior Giulia Ghezzi with a time of 23:52. Junior Elisabeth Taylor crossed the line second for the Scotties with a time of 27:33. Close behind was first-year Yang Hong with a 27:56. Rounding out the scorers were juniors Lizzie Booher and Farida Abudulai with times of 28:15 and 28:23 respectively.
Of the 12 teams that had enough runners to score, Agnes Scott was one of three Division III schools in a very competitive field. Host University of North Georgia won the meet with 28 points. Young Harris came in second with 75 points and Brenau University came in third with 92 points. Agnes Scott was 12th.
Agnes Scott will return to action next weekend at the Maryville Invitational in Tennessee.
