ATLANTA, Ga. - On Friday, the Agnes Scott College cross country had a strong showing at the SCAD-Atlanta Invitational, placing 6th out of 11 teams for their best finish in an invitational since the program was reinstated as a varsity sport during the 2014-15 season. Faridah Nalunkuuma led the Scotties for the 3rd straight race, as she ran a personal-best 21:39 for the 5k course, to finish in 16th place as an individual.
Several Scotties had outstanding races, including Jialin Chu, who was the second Scottie to cross the line, racing a personal best of 22:02, good enough for 23rd place. Ellie Vergura (23:20), Allyssa Willis (24:40), Kai Flores-Wong (24:47) and Mallory Wilson (25:13) would round out the scoring for the Scotties.
"The team has been working very hard," commented head coach Clinton Bell. "I was really impressed with several performances, but obviously having personal bests is what you hope for every race. Mallory (Wilson) and Jialin (Chu) both had great races today, and Faridah continues to be a strong leader on this team and is improving daily."
The Scotties will return to the course on October 15 as they take part in the Berry College Invitational.
