Scotties Race at Berry in Conference Tuneup

MT. BERRY, Ga.—Agnes Scott Cross Country ran to a 20th-place finish on an overcast morning at the Berry Invitational on Saturday morning. Alyssa Willis (Apache Junction, Ariz.) was the top runner for the Scotties, finishing 97th overall.

Willis took the lead role for the Scotties with senior Faridah Nalunkuuma (Kampala, Uganda) not participating in the event. Nalunkuuma had been the first Scottie to cross the end line in each of the first three meets to start the year. Willis filled in nicely though by garnering 75 points with a 27:45.46 time in the 6K run. The junior knocked nearly a minute off her time from a week ago at the Bobcat Invitational for a season-best.

Ellie Vergura (Atlanta, Ga.) was the second Scottie to finish with a time of 29:57.09 for 149th. Isabelle Eiden (Chicago, Ill.) and Kai Flores-Wong (Vallejo, Calif.) were bunched together within seven spots, while Avery Moore (Mariposa, Calif.) was the final Scottie to score by ending in 34 minutes flat.

Host Berry took the team win by a single point over SCAD-Atlanta. The Scotties finished 20th of the 23 competing on the day with a final score of 559.

As of today, ASC's regular season is officially over. The Scotties will be back on the trail two weeks from Saturday when they head to Piedmont for the USA South Championships beginning at 10 a.m.
